Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon raw carob powder *
  • a cup of warm water

A frequently asked question: why I don’t use cacao?

Ground cacao is obtained by heat treatment of cacao beans. While only the flesh of the cacao fruit is edible, the seeds are inedible raw and must be processed by fermentation and dehydration in order to be eaten. So, raw cacao is not edible. The sole need to process something to make it even edible speaks to whether something is natural food or not.

In addition, cacao beans contain theobromine (a relative of caffeine), cannabinoids and many other psychoactive substances. Have you heard that someone has an indescribable craving for more chocolate or that they can’t stop eating chocolate or even have a headache in the absence of a certain dose of chocolate, which disappears with the consumption of chocolate? This is quite telling.

On the other hand, carob is an extremely healthy pod, edible from the tree and very tasty.
